We don’t know about you, but our smartphones are nearly an extension of our hands here at Michael Murphy HQ. Between messaging services, social media and much more, we have no shame in embracing technology every step of the way and when a new app or website is released that might be useful, you know we’ve got it covered.

This week we wanted to share some of the coolest interior design and decorating apps we’ve come across because let’s face it, we can’t be on Pinterest all the time can we? Well, you’d like to think anyway…

Colour 911
Available for iOS; €4.49
We love this app from colour consultant Amy Wax. It has hundreds of colour palettes available and if you’re struggling to figure out what colour pillows will work best with your new pale pink couch? Upload a photograph of your item and the app will generate a list of custom, complimentary colour palettes it thinks will match your items.

MagicPlan
Available for iOS; free
Take photographs of your space with MagicPlan and allow the app to convert them into floor plans with measurements. You can also export these floor plans to PDF format which means you can share them with designers, contractors etc. Easy-peasy!

Roomy
Available for iOS; free
Really not sure how that sofa is going to look in your new living room? Roomy transforms 2-D photographs into 3-D renderings, this handy app really allows you to see exactly how things will look in your space before you buy them.

BrightNest
Available for iOS and Android; free
This clever app is a super-handy home maintenance tool. It acts as a reminder system for those little jobs that always slip our minds, changing the batteries in the smoke detector, changing lightbulbs etc. It also asks you tonnes of questions to find out which of its thousands of cleaning, DIY and maintenance tips would be best suited to your lifestyle.

iHandy Carpenter

Wouldn’t even know what a spirit level looks like, never mind have one? No worries. This really helpful app generates some of the must-have tools of a carpenter right on your phone, including a spirit level, plumb bob and steel ruler. You’ll thank us later for downloading this one.
