Michael Murphy Home Furnishing is proud to announce its brand upgrade to Murphy Home. This evolution reflects our dedication to meeting the needs of modern homes – today and into the future – while remaining true to the values that have defined us since 1974.
What started as a single furniture store in Newbridge, Co. Kildare, founded by Rose and Michael Murphy, has grown into Ireland’s leading independent, family-owned furniture retailer.
Our Beginnings
Rose and Michael had a simple but powerful vision: to bring high-quality, stylish furniture into Irish homes – pieces that were not only beautiful but built to last. That vision quickly resonated, and just two years later, we opened our second store in New Ross, Co. Wexford, near Michael’s hometown of Fethard-on-Sea.
From day one, every piece we offered was hand-selected by the Murphy family with the same care and attention we’d use for our own homes. That family-first approach has been the cornerstone of our business ever since, earning the trust and loyalty of generations of Irish families.
Growing Together
As we grew, so did our reputation for excellence. In 2006, Joe Murphy became CEO, bringing fresh energy and a vision for expansion. Today, we have six stores across Ireland – in Airside, Sandyford, New Ross, Wexford Town, and two in Newbridge – alongside a thriving online store.
This year, our online store was honoured with the Medium Online Retailer of the Year award by Retail Excellence Ireland – a proud moment that reflects our dedication to innovation and customer experience.
As a member of Guaranteed Irish, we champion Irish-made product, from art and mattresses to beautifully crafted sofas, because we believe in strengthening the communities we serve.
