While we know it’s incredibly tough, emotionally and mentally, to be facing into yet another lockdown, this isn’t our first rodeo and now we know for sure what tips and tricks to employ over the next number of weeks to keep us sane and smiling.
1) Create a calming space.
Creating a space at home where you can go and take a moment to yourself when things seem a little overwhelming is lockdown life hack number one. Whether it’s your bedroom, your office, your home gym, wherever makes you feel more at ease, creating that space now is crucial. Personally, from us here at MMHF HQ, we love retreating to our bedrooms, curling up with a good book and a delish candle.
2) Invest in some gym equipment or a fitness class subscription.
We all know how important getting the right amount of exercise can be for both our heads and our bodies. For some of us, a walk is just what we need, but for others pacing the roads in the January weather just doesn’t cut it. Purchasing some gym gear, even if it’s something as small as weights or as large as a treadmill, or opting in for your favorite fitness class via Zoom can do the world of good.
3) Stock up on those home comforts.
For some of us, it’s a new streaming subscription service and the ingredients to a week’s worth of tasty dinners, for others it’s a bar of chocolate and a stack of new books. Whatever your home comforts are, make sure you have them to hand as we get into lockdown 3.0.
4) Make time for friends and family.
Just because we can’t be physically together right now doesn’t mean you can’t make time for your nearest and dearest. Send that text to a friend you didn’t get a chance to catch up with over Christmas, schedule that Zoom call with your brother/sister/mum/dad. You’ll be surprised how good you feel.
5) Cut yourself some slack.
January is really rough time to be dealing with a third lockdown so remember to be kind to yourself and not put yourself under pressure. If all you do the whole month-long is get dressed then you’re onto a winner.
